Welcome to No More Comedy Rejections

Welcome to No More Comedy Rejections.

The idea is list comedy writing by the type of writer involved. There's no hard and fast rule to what you apply for, it's just to maximise success.

Rude, X-rated: Uses a number of rude terms, offensive for most ears. Try stand up, sketches (usually not on TV), cartoons.

Cruel: Full of venom, usually more dry than above. Stand-up, sketches.

Black: Tragic humour, tendency towards realism. Kitchen sink plays, sitcoms.

Quirky: Weird humour, hard to understand. Sketches, alternative sitcoms, cartoons.

Parodic: Take off of a particular author or director. Comedy spoofs, sketches, market for adaptions of original material?

Horror: A particular version of above. Horror spoofs, horror advisor to film/plays.

Topical: Relevant to now. Panel show, topical sketch show/sitcom

Detailed: Very intricate writing. Novels and plays.

Smart: Clever-clever comedy. Sub-divided:

Lawyer: Legal comedy. Advise dramas?

Medical: Hospital comedy. Advise dramas?

Folklore: Sci-fi novels.

Lifestyle: According to a particular group. Sub-divided:

Sexuality: Gay plays and sitcoms.

Ethnic: Plays about a race/mixed races. An Ethnic writer may advise on dramas.

Gender (Female): Feminist plays. Female prizes.

Class: Kitchen sink, degradation.
